The West Yorkshire village of Thorp Arch, along with its neighbouring villages of Walton and Boston Spa, lies close to the racing town of Wetherby, although it is said to be in the borough of Leeds. The village hosted a race meeting on Thusday 3rd April 1856, although it was not as well supported as was hoped and no further meetings were staged in the village.
